Welcome to Lie hytter, for a fantastic experience in nature. From our place Åmdals Verk (near Dalen in Telemark)  you reach many destinations in the region within 1-3 hours. Lie hytter offers good service and a varied holiday experience! You can contact us for a short stay or a longer holiday.
Lie hytter is a fantastic place to enjoy the nature. But also for a family with children is it an  ideal place. Lots of space and directly in front a river for fishing. Swim experience is a must for the children who wants to play in the river.
A beautiful mountain scenery provides a good and stable climate in summer and winter.  In the summer grazing cattle and sheep in the wilderness and mountain meadows. For lovers of fish there is a good trout in rivers (100 meters in front of the door) and in the many lakes. Within walking distance is a shop with daily needs (1 km), the place Dalen (15 km) with 2 supermarkets, petrol stations, doctors and Vrådal (30 km). Here is the ski center Vrådal. Just a few kilometers away is also the ski center Halbonsjekken.
From Åmdals Verk you can drive to Rauland and Rjukan, visit Fyesdal and Vrådal in the south, east to Morgedal, Seljord, Bø and the west over the mountain to Setesdal. Through Dalen is also a connection to the larger routes include Oslo. The place Dalen, in the valley, is the start (or end) of the famous Telemarkcanal boat.
It is a beautiful landscape with so far little tourist traffic. Along the roads there is a magnificent view over the landscape at altitudes of several hundred meters. Most major tourist destinations in West Telemark can be reached within 1 to 3 hours. This part of Telemark is a quiet haven for those who love fishing, inspiring for those looking for activities such as hiking, nature discovery and wants to know more about the culture and history of one of the main provinces of Norway.
Active holidays in Tokke
The beautiful landscape of Tokke deserves to be discovered. There are numerous opportunities for outdoor activities in all parts of the municipality. You can bike, take a cruise experience on the Telemark Canal. You can rent canoes, swimming in both Bandak and many other waters. Water quality is the best, the temperature delicious! Go for a walk in the woods and the beautiful nature with its many sights, marked trails with routes which you can obtain from the tourist offices. There are also organized moose safaris and you can see beavers in action. There are also many sports fields, basketball courts, shooting ranges, a gym with climbing wall, skateboard hotel and tennis courts.
Cultural and historical experiences
Grimdalstunet was the childhood home of Anne Grimdalen, best known for his work on the decoration of Oslo City Hall. More about the rich cultural landscape can be found in the West Telemark Museum in Eidsborg that the long tradition in folk art and crafts shows throughout the ages. 1000 Year back Tokke the council had a busy export industry, the Norwegian Vikings used the brown stone Eidsborg as an effective component for weapons such as the saga tells of the Battle Fimreite. Åmdals Works Mine is built around the copper mining (1 km) and shows the history in a museum where you can visit the mine. Rui, the house where the little sisters and Ingerine Gurine lived. One highlight is the Dalen Hotel, completely restored in 1994 in the original “dragon style”. You can also stop in for at the Tokke Power Station, the hydroelectric power generation. Or visit Ravnejuv, a 350 meter high cliff.
